Cantaloupes

This week we have sun-riped cantaloupes. They taste even better than they smell (and they smell intoxicating). Priced individually by weight; our current crop is $5 to $7.

Tomatoes: red tomatoes for $3 per pound. Pink slicer tomatoes for $3 per pound. Heirloom tomatoes (maroon Paul Robeson and white Fantom du Laos) for $4 per pound. Cherry tomatoes (when available…we lost several of these plants to curly top virus) for $5 per pound.

Eggplant, $2 per pound.

Pattypan squash, $2 per pound.

Yardlong beans and garden beans (“green beans” along with yellow wax and purple beans), $2 per 8 ounce bag.

Persian cucumbers, $3 per pound

Diversity of leafy greens: Swiss chard, lamb’s quarters (quelites), sweet potato greens, New Zealand spinach, sorrel. Priced $2 to $4, depending on the type.

Herbs picked to order, $2 or $3 per bunch: basil, parsley, thyme, oregano, sage, onion chives, garlic chives, salad burnet, lovage, tarragon…

We’ve been pickling and preserving: cucumber bread and butter pickles, chile dilly yardlong beans, achari masala garden beans, celtuce in wheat-free soy sauce, blackcurrant jam. Pints are $10, half-pints are $6.

We have lovely zinnias throughout our garden. We’ll cut you a bouquet to order, $5.

Come see us Tuesday through Friday, 9am-5pm. You’ll find us at 14 Gonzales Rd, Belen. 505-302-5657. Please park in our driveway and ring the doorbell to our house. It buzzes our phones and we’ll be right with you. Cash only. We are a small farm and some items may sell out, so it’s always a good idea to call ahead.
